At Our Place

Looking for the perfect venue to serve Slows' delicious barbecue? How about at Slows? We are able to offer dine-in catering options at several of our locations.

Michigan Avenue. We'd love to accommodate your rehearsal dinner, retirement party, staff meeting, mixer or corporate event at our flagship location. We have a private room that comfortably fits groups from 15 - 45 with a dedicated entrance and full bar. Although weather dependent, our patio is a great three-season option. Have a large corporate event? We can occasionally close the entire restaurant for your group.

Grand Rapids. Our West Michigan location sits inside the state of the art Grand Rapids Downtown Market. We have several options for hosting your group in our dining room. Our long tables are perfect for groups of 30 or more. Or we can cater your event in the first-class event spaces upstairs in the Downtown Market.

Pontiac. The soon-to-open Flagstar Strand Theatre complex offers a multitude of catering options and event spaces. More details to come soon!

Have the perfect venue for an event? Just need the right menu to complement the ambiance? You've come to the right group. We've catered to homes, to backyards, parks, wedding venues, even airplanes carrying pro-sports teams.

We have two locations that would love to bring Slows to you. Since 2010, Slows To Go has catered thousands of events. Slows Bar Bq Grand Rapids started catering in 2015. With both locations, you choose the level of service. We can drop off your order. We can set-up a self-service buffet. We can provide wait staff and even full beverage service.

Pickup at Our Store

Sometimes you don't need the whole shebang. Sometimes you know what you want, you know when you want it, and you want it to be perfect. Our store pick-up is the perfect option for you.

We can have nearly every item on our menu panned up, hot & ready to serve whenever you want it. This option is perfect for work functions, meetings, backyard parties, grad events etc. Pressed for time setting up and need your order earlier? You can pick up anything we have cold with detailed reheating instructions.

We currently offer Bulk Order Pick-Up at Slows To Go on Cass in Midtown Detroit and at our Grand Rapids location.

 

Slows Food Truck

There is bringing our food to you and then there is bringing our food to you. Our 26ft food truck lets us bring Slows to you. We have a full kitchen on board. We can treat your guests to all of your Slows favorites.

You may have seen our truck at Ann Arbor Summer Festival, Electric Forest, University of Michigan Football tailgates, the MoPop Festival or at DCFC home games. Maybe you saw us outside an office at lunch. We do all of that and more! We can serve groups from several hundred up to festivals with several thousand attendees.

How much advance notice do you need for my order?

We prefer at least 24 hours notice for large orders, but we'll do our best to take care of you. We are set up to provide a lot of award-winning BBQ. Please note, delivery for catering orders normally requires additional notice.

How much should I order?

That's the toughest question we get. You know your guests better than we do. As a general guideline: our sandwiches have 7 ounces of meat. Our entrees are 12 ounce portions. Our small sides are served in 8oz cups. We can help you figure this out.

I don't need servers and I’d like to pick up my order. Where are you located?

Can I pick up my order before you open? After you close?

'Do you provide plates, silverware and serving utensils?'

We can offer 100% biodegradable paper goods and cutlery for an additional charge.

Do you cater weddings?

We sure do. We have catered countless weddings and rehearsal dinners.

Please allow one day's notice for individually bagged orders. Please call us to discuss order particulars.

Can I order items that are not on your normal menu?

Our chefs may be able to prepare something special for your guests. Please give us a call to discuss.

Do you sell beer & wine for parties?

We are able to sell beer, wine and liquor through Slows Bar Bq. Beer, Wine and Liquor service will require hiring one or more of our bartenders.

I plan on ordering from you regularly for my office. Can I set up an account with you?

Please call and speak with our managers. We can work with you to invoice your group.

I want to pick up my food cold. Can you help me with that?

We can provide nearly all of our menu items cold with reheating instructions.

What should I do next to get more information or to place an order?

'Can I book the truck for a private event (birthday party, retirement, wedding)?'

We generally ask for a minimum of 200 attendees to bring the truck on site. However, it never hurts to ask. Even if we cannot bring the truck, we have a ton of experience catering all types of parties of all sizes.

What kind of menu can I have?

We can offer the award-winning bbq that Slows is famous for, but that isn't all. Looking for something special? Ask us, we may be able to accommodate something unique for your party.

I want to book you for a weekend festival in the Summer? How soon should I contact you?

The sooner the better. We book our weekends as early as possible.

I want to book you for a Winter event.

Our truck isn't really suited to the harshest parts of the Michigan Winter. Basically, we plan to have it in storage between Dec & Mar.

How many people does your private room accommodate?

The room has table seating for 45. If it’s a strolling dinner or more casual, we can put a few more guests at the bar.

Do you offer buffet service in your private room?

Because we are limited by space, we have found that family style service works best.

What is family style service?

Family style service features large shared platters of selected menu items brought to your table. The platters are meant to be passed at the table by your guests and are replenished as needed by our staff.

What type of beverage packages do you offer?
  • Beer and wine can be purchased by the case or bottle (wine). Any unopened product can be taken with you at the end of your event.
  • You can purchase drink tickets for your guests that they could redeem with the server for drinks.
  • You also have the open bar option where your cost is based on your guests' consumption.
    Cash bar is available (guaranteed spend may apply)
If we are interested in hosting an event in your outside space, is that possible?

It is possible to host an event in our outside space but is weather dependent. Our private room rental fees would apply. In the event of inclement weather, the party my be moved indoors to the private room to ensure your guests safety. This determination will be made 2 hours prior to guest arrival.

What type of decorating can we do?

We want you to feel that the space is decorated to your satisfaction but we do ask that you recognize that there may be some limitations due to space, safety, structural and security considerations. We are more than willing to assist you during your planning stages to avoid any issues.

We sure do! We have catered countless weddings and rehearsal dinners. We now have several designated event spaces inside the newly remodeled Strand Theatre.

How many guest are you able to accommodate?

We are able to accommodate 145 guest for seated service and approx 800 guests with strolling food stations.

I have a business lunch or dinner planned. Is there a private space that can be utilized for such functions?

Yes, we have a private room that can accommodate up to 45 guests with a full bar.
